Country music legend, actress, and philanthropist Dolly Parton was laid to rest on Friday in a private funeral attended by members of her immediate family.
Parton died on Aug. 25 at the age of 80 after a brief battle with cancer and was buried on Aug. 28 at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville, Tennessee.
The singer-songwriter was laid to rest near her husband of almost 60 years, Carl Dean, who died last year at the age of 82. The private funeral reflected Parton’s wishes for a quiet family farewell.
“This is a really hard post for me to make,” Parton’s great-niece Lainey Parton wrote in a heartfelt tribute on social media on Aug. 29. “I wanted to wait until after my granny was laid to rest yesterday before I tried to put any of this into words.”…
